Jennette’s Pier for the North Carolina Aquarium’s
Nags Head, North Carolina

Jennette’s Pier replaces the old pier structure that was built in 1939. The original pier structure was destroyed by a Hurricane Isabel in 2003. The new pier is a 1000’ long concrete structure with a 17,000 square foot pier house. The pier house is two stories. The first floor features a tackle shop, aquarium exhibits and classroom. The upper floor is a large multipurpose room with a full commercial kitchen and administrative offices. The facility is designed to fit within the historic Nags Head cottage style. While maintaining a tradition feel the pier features many cutting edge alternative energy components. Jennette’s Pier is a Gold Level LEED facility.
